As of January 31, 2025, the battery energy storage capacity in California, the United States, has grown from 771MW in 2019 to over 15,500MW. According to the latest California Energy Storage System Survey by the California Energy Commission (CEC), the state's total battery energy storage capacity now stands at 15,763MW. Of this, 686MW is from commercial installations, 1,829MW from residential installations, and 13,248MW from utility-scale installations. The 15,763MW figure also represents an increase of 2,300MW from September 2024, when the CEC last released its energy storage survey. The office of California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statement on the survey, stating that the state's energy storage capacity has increased by 1,944% since he took office.
Newsom said, "As we continue to build the grid of the future, California is adding battery storage at an unprecedented rate. The key to a cleaner and more reliable grid is batteries, and no other jurisdiction on earth, except China, can match our rapid deployment." The governor's office also noted that despite an 78% increase in the state's GDP during the same period, California's greenhouse gas emissions have decreased by 78% since 2000. California's goal is to deploy 52,000MW of energy storage by 2045. The state estimates that to achieve this goal, a total of more than 48,000MW of battery energy storage and 4,000MW of long-duration energy storage (LDES) will be needed.
Amidst the booming residential energy storage market in California, Amensolar's Lifepo4 batteries have emerged as the ideal choice for many homeowners, thanks to their outstanding performance and safety. The 10kwh lithium-ion battery, with its 10kwh capacity, provides a substantial power reserve for households, ensuring the normal operation of household appliances during peak electricity consumption periods or in the event of grid instability or power outages, thus bringing peace of mind to family life. The 48v Lifepo4 battery series, such as the 48v 100ah Lifepo4 battery and the 48v 200ah Lifepo4 battery, offer flexible energy storage solutions for households with varying power needs, with capacities of 4800wh and 9600wh respectively. These batteries, employing advanced Lifepo4 technology, feature long life, high safety, and excellent cycling performance, and can operate stably under various environmental conditions. They provide reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly energy storage support for California's homeowners, helping the state realize its ambitious energy storage goals and drive the process of energy transition and sustainable development.
